Please tell me it was not clamped up in a vise too hard and while beating up the sights it cracked the slide ....

I have no intention of belittling you, I am just very curious how that happened.

 

I have one of these. It doesn't take very much to move the rear sight.
This one
should work easily too.
You just need the correct angle to push.

 

Please don't use that on a gun. It's not safe

Let's make it clear, in answer to the question, NO, it is not safe to use that slide in that condition.
