I saw a post on line that recommended using baby wipes on Glocks, anyone going this route

The active ingredient in baby wipes among things, depending on the brand, I wouldn't clean my guns with is alcohol. I use ethyl alcohol with a clean cotton rag or patch. It's clean and evaporates fast, or faster with a blast from a can of air.

don't think the active ingredient in baby wipes is alcohol, but just to make sure I put a call in to my son. He told me that he uses generic baby wipes from Sweet bay supermarket and the package states that it is hypoallergenic and alcohol free. As I am the new kid (old man on the block) I don't know if I can post links to u tube but I will try to find the video that indorses baby wipes

After five posts you should now be able to post pictures and links. I sent you a PM on how to do it.

Welcome to the Glock.Pro forum Joe glad you found us, lots of good folks here and tons of information. Also allow me to say Welcome Home Brother. The finish on Glocks is so hard that it will resist just about anything you can throw at it. As far as using Baby wipes I really can't see any need at all. If you are thinking about using them as cleaning rags there are lots better things on the market.....the best being FrogLube. There are several threads that will explain this so I will just let you read them. Again, welcome and thanks for your service!

Thank you for the welcome home that is all we were and still are looking for.

OK, watched it completely....not impressed at all. I, like several others here, are Glock Armorers, and I for one have never had Glock send anything say "Use baby wipes". Also the video was not impressive for several other reasons but I will not expound upon those. Like they say "it must be true, they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true" .......yea right. Everyone has a right to their opinion.....I will stick with FrogLube.....after all my life depends on it.

Just to set the record straight I was not indorsing only looking for opinions, that being said the opinion of the majority of members on the site is the direction I will take.

This.

An essential item in the range bag.

Most major brand baby wipes today don't contain alcohol, for lots of reasons, but it's one of the worst things you could put on a rashy baby's bottom. I wouldn't worry about using them on a handgun. Geez, these things are made to shoot clogged in mud, sand, ice, water and we're worried about a baby wipe doing harm to it? :p That's kinda funny, actually.

Baby wipes for a baby, not for guns imho! I use rem oil & a rag to clean the outside & metal parts of the gun.

I don't use baby wipes for cleaning my Glocks. However I always have them in my bag for hand cleaning and I have found if you wipe the still warm gun down with baby wipes a lot of the dirt and gunk will come off very easily, making the cleaning job at home even easier.
I have used many different cleaners and oils for my Glock and just about everything works well.
I have cleaned them in the kitchen sink with Simple Green, blew out excess water with the air compressor and eith put in the sun to dry or used a hair dryer.

I mostly now use Hoppes or Mpro7 for the bore and Ballistol for everything else.

Some of my oldest Glocks still look and work like new.

Mainly because baby wipes have a lot more uses and for what ten gun wipes cost you can buy 300 baby wipes.
I would never buy baby wipes for gun cleaning, nor do I use them in normal gun cleaning but they are still always in my range bag and my hunting pack too.

If you would never buy or use baby wipes for gun cleaning, why do you have them in your range bag???

You laugh !

When Glocks first appeared in LE application I was shooting with one of the armors from the local PD here and he told the story of a rookie putting his issue weapon (gen1 G17) in the dishwasher to clean it .....
