What type of 9MM

My personal opinion is that the 19 is the best all around 9mm package.

I'm new to shooting Glocks and would like to shoot some matches. What is the diff between the G17 and G19?

G17 is a full size Glock... actually it's the same size as your 22... G19 is a "Compact" Glock... a litttle shorter barrel... a little shorter in the grip... a little less distance between the sights... and the 19 has a ribbed trigger!

I have both a 17 and a 19... I like them both, but the 17 is my favorite... The 17 should be a better match gun, but a lot of people prefer their 19... You can't go wrong with either one!

At present I shoot an XD9 and like it. Tried a G34 and it was lighter than the xd9 bet the G19 is like a feather.

I agree with JB... But then that's the only Glock I've ever shot.... But I do like it much better than my Sig P226!

So what about Generation and the rtg?
That's good info Looks like the G19 would be close to the XD9 size/barrel length.

Did you keep the factory sights on both?

G17 and don't look back.

To me, the 17 felt much better in my hand than the 19. The 19 is a bit smaller, but a grip extension on the bottom of the mag cures that. The barrel is a bit shorter on the 19 also, so figure a tad larger grouping. The 17 also comes with a 17 round mag(10 in CA). If you are going to conceal carry, for sure get the 19, but if no conceal carry, I would get the 17 unless you have small hands. Just my opinion...

If you already own a 22 id get a 23, you can always do a barrel change and make it a 9mm.

You already have the 22. I am guessing that you like it. The G17 is the same size only in 9mm. That is what I would go with and that is my professional opinion.

I don't think you can go wrong with either the G17 or G19. As most of the folks above have said, it really depends on your personal feel for the guns. I have a G19 and love it.

Currently, I'm leaning towards te G19 mainly because I want to use it as CCW. I'm looking for a used one right now, but without luck. Does anyone know where I can get one in the Greensboro, NC area?

there is a gun show 20-21st at the fairgrounds in raleigh. im sure you can find something there, or you can check out local gun ranges/shops.
