I have a Glock 19S that has been my duty firearm since purchased new in the 90's. It was purchased as an officer of Tasmania Police and is fitted with a factory thumb safety.

I am retiring in the not too distant future and will have to sell the firearm and wondering what it is worth, considering I am in Australia and would most likely have to export it as it is considered a prohibited weapon here!

In America we do not have external safeties, one may have it installed by a third party, but to my knowledge they do not come from the factory with one. Some say this devalues the weapon.

I did find this article about a prototype factory model that never saw production :

Trigger Bumper Bag Automotive exterior Shotgun

Air gun Trigger Wood Line Gun barrel

As for value, I would start with a used Model 19 and negotiate from there : used glock 19 price - Google Search

Thanks Otintx,

It is definitely a factory-fitted safety, I have updated the original post to reflect where it was purchased, one of the few factory runs with a thumb safety.

Thankx for the info Mike, I did read an article about the Taiwan police department purchasing a lot of the OEM safety models, interesting to learn Australia has some as well.

When you decided on a price I would be interested in following the selling of that one.

They must be a rare breed, can't say I have ever seen one for sale.

The image I posted of the tan one is a nice looking weapon IMO.

Back in the 90's we had the option to buy a 19 or 17 for use at work. I don't know how many total we produced, but it wouldn't have been more that 50.

I only know if one other still fitted with a safety as most were removed over the years.

We are now replacing all Glocks with G5's, so this one will end up in a crusher somewhere unless I can export it. They are not able to be privately owned in Aus anymore.

In order to export it I will have to mount a good argument with work, as it is registered to them but owned by me.

Do let us know how it goes, that is certainly a keeper for someone.
