I shoot whatever I can get my hands on. Recently that's been the 250 Mega Packs from Walmart, but it's dirty ammo. My TLR-1s light on the bottom of my G19 was filthy after my last range trip. I am planning on making an order from Georgia Arms soon for 1,000 rounds or so, so that's what I'll be shooting then. :)
Much like "The Law", I shoot pretty much anything available when at the range usually in the 230 grain variety. As for carry or HD ammo, I'm loaded up with Winchester Ranger 230 gr.
In my G23 (new off duty pistol) Federal Champion 180 grain FMJ's on the range, Hornady TAP CQ 155 grain hollow points for defense.
In my GLOCKS I mainly use WWB, cause its almost always available at Wally World. Or reloads. In my revolvers, I usually run reloads through them.
Usually American Eagle from Ammunitiontogo when they have it available... sometimes WWB at Walmart because it's usually easy to get...
I have shot about everything out there except silver bear. I refuse to use that. Now I pretty much just use my own and that is that. For SD I like Hornady critical defense, Gold Dots, or Double tap.
I too use the WWB or Blazer Brass for range work with my two 9mm Glocks..
I have a small stash of 9BPLE 9mm that I use for carry..
In my 9mm S&W 940 Revolver I use Federal Nyclad 9mms..
Use Federal 550 Bulk in my 22lr Ruger 10/22 & MKII target..
For the range, I'll use whatever I can get at Wal-Mart...except the Russian stuff. Most of the time it's Federal Champion or WWB. I prefer Speer Lawman when I can get it at a good price. For SD, I've only used Speer Gold Dots in the 50-round boxes.
For my G19.........115gr. FMJ, usually CCI Blazer w/ brass cases. For ccw I load two Hornady 115gr. Critical Defense rounds on top, followed by 13 FMJ's.

In my 45 (1911).....200 gr. JHP. The old flying Ashtrays, which you can't get anymore. Gonna switch to XTPs cause I've all but exhausted my stash of ashtrays!

In my PPK/s......90gr. Critical Defense for ccw and Remington UMC FMJ's for general purpose.
Rvrrat14 - out of curiosity, why do you load different ammo in your CC magazines?
I feel that first two hollowpoints out of the tube should do the job. If not, it's a high probability the perp or wild animal will be seeking refuge or fleeing. More likely the need to penetrate other objects where they may be hiding, etc. The FMJ provides the ultimate penetration to the problem.

i've heard of this carrying philosophy from an old texas ranger. i figure if the first few jhp's out of my mag don't solve the problem, i'm dead LOL
I would agree with the older ammunition that this may have been ideal but in my opinion, with today's ammo this isn't necessary. But hey, carry however you feel safe, just carry!
I use to shoot Federal Champion in .40 and 9mm until Walmart raised their prices. Got a good deal on PMC so I purchased 1K rounds. So far no probs. Use Speer Gold Dots for self defense rounds both .40 and 9mm.
I shoot 9mm American Eagle 124gr FMJ for range ammo. Ammunitiontogo just got more of it in, but they raised the price by $20 for 500...

Been using 9mm Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP for SD.
range ammo Atlanta Arms

CC Speer Gold Dot 180gr 40 S&W only!!!!!!
In my Glock 22 I carry and shoot the exact same thing, 180gr Hornady XTP's over 6.5 gr of Power Pistol touched off by CCI 500's in mostly federal cases because that's what I have the most of. I've chronoed this at 980 fps, so it hits plenty hard. In my 1911 I'm carrying Hornady +P 230gr XTP's loaded by Hornady Custom for now. I plan on switching over to Gold Dots as soon as I can get my hands on some, or Ranger SXT's if my LE buddies come through with some for me for the .45. I'll carry the 1911 as long as I need the long coat and thermals, when the weather gets warmer, I'll switch to the Glock as I find it a tad easier to conceal, and easier to carry in warmer weather. Someday, I'll trade the 22 for a 30, just don't have the funds right now.
I like American Eagle for target practice. It's pricey but I don't shoot often so I'd rather have the better stuff(in my opinion). For JHPs I carry a mix of Winchester PDX1 and Remington Gold Sabers. I only have like 20-25 of each load at the moment so I carry one load in one mag, one in another.

I have shot through my Glocks and still have some of each:
Ranger T, Gold Saber, PDX1, Federal Hydra-Shocks(wish I could find some HST locally), Hornady TAP FPD and Custom XTP.
