The simplicity of Glock pistols

So we all know Glock pistols work with around 34 parts all together. Any speculation as to why no other gun maker can come close to the simplicity of a Glock while maintaining the reliability that Glock posses? (Nevermind patent limitations)

It just seems that so so many other pistols do far less with so many more parts.

The relatively new Caracal pistol has 28 parts. But to be fair it was designed by a former Glock engineer, Wilhelm Bubits, who also designed the Steyr M and S pistols.

I think the reliability of Glocks comes partly from simplicity but also from loose tolerances, like the AK. The AK of pistols as I like to refer to it. :D
They are for sure really simple. I was surprised the first time I detail stripped my 1911 though. There really aren't that many parts to it either. No, I haven't counted.

I've heard that 1911's are harder to work on than Glocks...

Do you find that to be true?

i customize both my 1911's and glocks, and i'd have to agree with that statement.
