Did any of you happen to watch this weeks episode of Tactical Arms? Larry Vickers had a special show all about Glocks.

He talked about several different models of Glocks... talked about trigger management... quick draw... magazine changing... spent quite a bit of time talking about Glock lubrication... said most Glocks were under lubricated... unfortunately he did not elaborate on how he lubricated a Glock... was a pretty good show... You don't see Glocks mentioned too often on the gun shows...

I recorded it earlier in the week, but just watched it tonight. I imagine it will be on a few more times. It's on the Sportsman Channel.

I no longer get the Channel it shows on my DirecTV or else my SEARCH just can't find it. I've watched the series before and love it.

LAV talked about that episode in the 1911 Operator class I took with him this summer. Several other members here were in the class too so they might have some recollection of what he said about it. I seem to recall he said Ken Hackathorn was also on that episode. If you don't know who Hack is you might want to do some bio info on him too. These two guys are at the top of the firearms training food chain. THE top actually.

I think he said they cut out something important he said but can't recall what it was.

Either way ... here's what I recall when we were discussing this topic.

LAV stated if he was dropped into a HOT zone around the world right now and to carry a 9mm it would be a Gen3 G17. The mods he said he would do from what I recall is add NS, ext slide stop, Vickers ext mag release (surprise), and a grip plug.

He stated the G19 is a fantastic carry pistol but can be more prone to malfs than the G17. He stated it's superb, but just can be more prone to malfs than the G17 which he said is just inherently more reliable. He did say though if you were a concealed carry kind of guy and could only own one weapon ... get a G19.

For .45acp to be dropped in a HOT zone he said he would carry a HK45 (which he and Hack helped design), followed by a HK45c, then lastly a S&W M&P45. He doesn't like any of the .45acp offerings from GLOCKs ... at all.

Interesting. __JB, any chance you cant get you're recorded version converted to digital so we may see some of it?
I was able to watch the first season of his show, but it moved to a channel that I don't get.
Darn it, I don't get that channel on Comcast. I wish they offered something online.

I had not heard of Ken Hackathorn before, but noticed that LAV was very respectful of him. He (KH) seemed very knowledgeable. I'll check his BIO...

I don't remember him saying that the 19 was less reliable than the 17. I would have likely remembered that, but I'll watch it again to see. I do remember him talking about being dropped into a hot LZ and taking a 17.

He also mentioned that he liked to "underload" his magazines by one round to make the springs live longer, but mainly to make inserting the magazines faster and more sure under tactical situations.

I still have the recording, but I have a standard cable-company based DVR that records on a hard disk. It doesn't have HDMI-out or anything like that. I wonder if it would be available on any of the newsgroups?

That's prob what he mentioned that was cut.
