Hello all, I purchased a Glock 29 last week, expecting ammo to arrive tomorrow
afternoon. Must say, I am a bit concerned regarding safety. I have viewed
many videos, including Hitchcock 45, with nothing but praise for Glock 29.
I am looking forward to firing off some rounds but just apprehensive.
God bless all, make it a great day!

Never be afraid or embarrassed to take a few classes. Find a good range with professional trainers to give you instructions on gun safety and new shooter training. NOT ONE person ever picked up a firearm and was a highly proficient shooter or knew every aspect of firearm training.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I looked over my message and it looked like I was not
familiar with shooting. I do have many pistols and rifles. I recently purchased an
M-1 carbine in honor of dad who served in WW2 in the Pacific.
I was referring to the Kaboom concept when firing the G29. I love the feel of this
pistol but read last nite about this possible defect.
I was wondering if any reader has experienced complications during range practice.
(I did serve in the military) Thanks!

Welcome to the Glock.pro forums!

Not sure exactly what you are worried about? Assume this is your first Glock? Glock pistols have three internal safeties but don't have a manual safety like a 1911... Generally speaking, as long as you don't pull the trigger, they won't fire.

Thanks for your comment. I was concerned about the Kaboom problems I had recently
read about. I have heard about Glock for years, I’m glad I purchased one. Going to
fire mine when ammo arrives. Many great positive videos to enjoy. Should be fun!

Welcome to the forum.

New to Glock, welcome. Are you new to firearms?
If not, the only difference in firing a Glock and a revolver is racking the slide to get the first round loaded. Then it's point and shoot.
Also if you completely new to firearms, follow GRU7's advise and look into classes.
This link should take to the NRA instructor page where you find instructors in your area.

Thanks for the information. I grew up hunting in the Santa Cruz Mountains of
California. Very familiar with hand guns, semis and revolvers, 30-06, shotguns,
etc. I may have put more concern in the kaboom issue than was necessary.
I have not read why Glock had this problem but apparently it must be rare.
Thanks for all comments. I’m sure I will have future questions.
Also, anyone have an interesting story regarding downed game using their
Glock? I’m a rookie on this site. Not sure of the format.
God bless.

I have a G22 gen3 and have never had issues with it including +p ammo and my reloads. In early 40 S&W Glocks there were issues with cases bulging but I haven't seen it. And you can replace the Glock barrel with an after market one.

Hey Gaz,
I have been learning a great deal about Glock. Wished I had discovered this pistol
sooner. I finally received my ammo from UPS. Ordered mag extensions and grips
for 15 round mags. retired last year and enjoying the extra time to do what i
want. Going to the firing range to test the 29. Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Congratulations on your new Glock...you'll like it.
