She wouldn't hurt her daddy. Honestly though I don't think it is bad at all. The concussion that comes back and hits you will certainly take your mind off the kick.sweet! very nice woolly mammoth hunting rifle lol
how's the recoil? does it hurt your shoulder? i've always wanted to fire one![]()
I have shot smaller rifles that kicked harder. The thing with the 50 is the concussion. It certainly rolls back onto the shooter. I have had people tell me that after shooting her for 10 rounds or so that they could taste blood in their mouth. Also, there is a warning on her saying not to shoot more than 10 rounds with out taking a break due to risk of heart attack from concussion.Having never shot one, I'll let SF answer with a valued opinion but I watched a show on the .50 cal and they had a small woman shooting it. They stated the recoil was very minimal for what they were shooting.
On the show, they stated it was paramount to be directly behind the weapon, and not off to one side or the other.I have shot smaller rifles that kicked harder. That is a real good idea as well, but.....it still gets ya. There is no hiding from it. But it is much worse on the side of it as that is where the brake directs it. Like anything else though it expands and still gets the shooter just not as bad. Like I said, barrett even stamps a warning on them.On the show, they stated it was paramount to be directly behind the weapon, and not off to one side or the other.![]()

yep, that'll put hair on your chest lolHere is a good video showing the muzzle blast and concussion.
Between that and the 338 Lapua magnum I do ok in reliving my military daysThat's one heck of a gun, sf...
Glad you're getting to shoot her more often now...
I tried finding the video but my Google'Fu is off today. The video I am referring to was on a Shooting USA show, where they features the Barret company. They showed how they made the 50 cals and then I think it was Mr. Barrett's daughter who went out and shot the rifle on their range.Could be this one
or this one
there are lots of them out there. They are fun
Thanks SF. Hadn't done that much looking but have been curious. And congrats on your new equip! If all you are wanting to load is 10mm you can get set up fairly cheap. As long as you want to use a single stage press. Progressive presses are more expensive but allows you to load a lot more ammo. For Example my Dillon will re-load 4-500 rph. A single stage nowhere near so much.
Also, you wont need a 50bmg press for 10mm. You can get a lee single stage press for around $40. Lee dies aren't very expensive and you can find used ones on E-bay for even less. But to answer your original question the 50bmg press was just under $200.
For someone wanting to get started there are several out there including one called the rock chucker. To my knowledge it comes with everything that you will need to get started powder measure etc. minus the dies. But don't quote me on that as I don't have one of those myself.
