well i just came from the funshop. checked out the g30. however, my buddy that works there just let me shoot a 10mm g29, never fired a 10mm before. it was really fun, and pretty accurate.

10mm ammo in my area is only a couple bucks more than .45. plus i already have a few .45 1911's.

so what would you guys go for--G29 or G30?

thanks :D

Of the two I would have to say 30. You said you already have 45s so you wouldn't have to stock up on another caliber of ammo.

I vote 10mm, I'm salivating over getting a Glock 20 sometime in the near future, just have to justify it to the wife. Plus, why not own the most powerful Glocks made, right?

Well, I have had a 29 in the past and regret trading it off. It was a great shooter and a powerhouse to boot. True though the 29/30 are larger than the 19/23/33/39 guns, but considering the power they put out, its easy to see why the 29/30s are bigger. If you consider max load weight, 230gr bullets for the .45 and 180-200gr bullets for the 10MM, the 29 will be a little lighter, it might not be much to you, but if weight effects you while carrying for long, extended periods of time, thats something to think about. Also, if you are into + capacity extensions, you only get +1 for the .45 vs +2 for the 10MM. Finally, I look at it power wise. 10MM is the most powerful semi-auto hand gun cartridge, excluding rounds that were initially developed for revolver use. So if you are the type who wants max punch power, Id go 29.

thanx for the input, my friends. i'm leaning torwards an OD G29 at this point.

question: most of the pics of the OD g29's online show it without an accessory rail on the dustcover. is that just the old one's? i do want a rail.

You will want to look for 29s that arent older than appox 2006, as the rails were first produced around 2006 to present on 29s and 30s.

budd's has them the cheapest i've seen, but my local won't FFL transfer from them because their prices are so cheap (makes no sense to me, maybe they're jealous??). i've always been hesitent to buy a gun off gunbroker, even from the A+ sellers lol. guess i still don't trust internet transactions....

i could go to another shop to order it from bud's, but they charge a $40 FFL transfer fee...

alright! thanx a lot for the input guys! i just ordered the g29 through my local funshop, $569+tax, which includes 3 months unlimited free range time at their indoor range. i didn't get the SF model, despite having small hands. that one just feels odd to me, although i know many who prefer it. they weren't able to locate the OD frame one. i coulda FFL tansfered it, but it woulda cost me about $60 more, and no free range time.

should be at the shop by the end of the week. :)
