Hey all, just got my first gun for my 21st. I went with the Glock 23 after all the good things I heard and reviews I read. This will eventually be my carry gun after I get real comfortable with it. Just wanted to share some things I have done with it and see who had some suggestions/ thoughts. so far.....

I added Trijicon Green/Green Night time sights- Love EM
Slug Plug- To prevent dirt, dust, and debris from entering bottom of gun. Nice look also
15 rd clip- paid $29.95 at local gun dealer, not big on the extended look though.

Good choice. I just recently sold my 23 and got a Gen 4 19, same gun, cheaper ammo, LOL.

Congrats! The G23 was my first firearm and I love mine. I haven't put night sights on mine yet, only thing I've done with mine is put a plug in the grip and put a Hogue Handall grip on it. The Hogue adds quite a bit of bulk to the grip but it feels good for me.

I carry mine in a Don Hume H721 Open Top(OWB holster).

Congrats on turning 21 and getting your Glock. Many years ago, I also purchased a Glock 23 and a 27 and I was very happy with both. I'm sure you will be as well. I warn you, this won't be your last Glock. :)

I'm not sure what your background is but make sure you get some training on the safe use of firearms, the laws on carrying in your state, and any training you can get on firearms in the future, you should try to take. You can never be too trained. Just make sure to seek out reputable trainers. (See JLWeems Blog on Trainers on this website under the Blog section)

Be safe with it and enjoy!

congrats, I wouldnt spent the money on getting the 15rd G22 mags unless you plan on getting a G22. You can get the same capacity with a set of pierce +2 mag extensions and they are a lot cheaper..but since you already have the G22 mag you can just spend about $30 bucks on 3 extensions and have 2 15 rd mags and a 17rd mag.

yeah buddy cant go wrong with the 23!.. i also immediatly changed the sights on my 23. i went with the glock factory night sights. and then after a couple pistol comps i realized it needed an extended magazine release. and i dont plan to change anything else on it.

I'm looking into to adding the extended mag release also, how do you like it?

I typically add the extended slide stop as well as the extended mag release on Gen 3 models. There is just something about the factory mag release that I just can't manipulate as well as I would like so I like the extended ones. The issue here is the Glock Extended mag rleases are MUCH longer. If I had to shoot several hundred to a thousand rounds for say a class, my hand would be tore up. Vickers makes an extended mag release that is in the middle between the stock and the GLOCK extended. I would personally recommend these, but keep in mind they are not legal in GSSF matches if you choose to attend those.

I plan on shaving my GLOCK extended mag releases down some to feel like a Vickers but still allow me to compete in a GSSF match legally. Personally, I'm not sure what a Vickers mag release does that would better my shooting skills since there ar eno timed mag changes but they have their rules and I abide by them.

I also like the extedned slide stops. These just give me a more postive feel when I choose to use it, which really is only to clear a weapon.
