More and more women embracing gun ownership - CBS News

Still trying to push the anti agendas but a pretty decent piece all together.

(CBS News) The face of the American gun owner is changing.
More women than ever are picking up rifles, shotguns, and handguns. And target shooting is one of the fastest-growing female sports.
But, looks can be deceiving. We're not talking "Dirty Harriet" here, notes "Early Show" contributor Katrina Szish.
Female participation in target shooting in the U.S. has nearly doubled in the last decade, growing to nearly five million women since 2001.

Good read. My wife was really anti-handgun when we got married. Her brother had been killed recently so it was understandable. I tried to convince her about the advantages of gun ownership and I always had guns around. I was never able to convince her, but after we had children and I got a job in which I had to travel, things changed.
I came home on several occasions to find her chugging around the house with a pistol in her nightgown. She would hear a noise and that mother's instinct to protect her children changed her mind in a hurry. She claims one of my guns as "her's" now, and we shoot together often.
Nothing like a mother bear protecting her cubs to "get her mind right".

I have had a significant increase in the number of female students in both the basic NRA Pistol classes as well as wanting to get their concealed carry permits. I must say that teaching the "fair sex" is easier because they don't come to class with pre-conceived ideas on how to handle and fire a firearm. They pay attention better and follow every command on the firing line to the letter. As a matter of fact whenever possible I try to do a class with females only. They feel more comfortable around other women and aren't afraid to ask questions I don't normally see them ask in a mixed class. I urge you gentlemen to have an honest NON-PRESSURED discussion with your ladies about training and even suggest they think about a class with only females. Also lots of clubs hold NRA sponsored "Women On Target" days where they get to fire many different types of firearms and build their confidence in a non-threatening environment.

My wife involuntary agreed to go to a GSSF match in Charleston, SC, the
last weekend in October. At the range in Ridgeville she met anad talked
with several women who encouraged her to get into shooting, explaining to
her about women being better shooters due to slower heart rate, being more
focused, and seeing the final results of the match, she said, " I think I can
kick your butt, because it involves finesse, not BF&FI". She is now enrolled in
a firearms training class as well as a CCW class, along with 3 of her female co-workers.
Scary!
