I wonder if someone has tested, what the lowest possible striker spring weight is to have 100% reliable primer strikes and reliably functioning of the glock gen 5.

I know that is is very easy to reduce trigger weight by changing the springs in the glock. But the downside is that the lower weight will result in light primer strikes or unbalanced springs with the trigger reset spring which will result in trigger not resetting etc..

I wonder if someone has tested this already out and checked how far can you go with tweaking springs inside the glock to achieve a low trigger weight that is at the same time reliable.

Thanks for your input.

It depends on the primers you use...

Most people running Glocks with light triggers use Federal primers... Back when you could buy primers anyway... :(

I remember when slick Willie had the primers scarce and everyone was being limited to a thousand purchase.

Also remember when a 5 thousand pack was 15 dollars !

Geeezzzee I sound more like my parents/grandparents every day !

Oh Yeah! I can remember way back in January of 2020 when 9mm was less than a 3rd of what they charge for it now.

The correct answer to your question is the factory standard 5 1/2 lb striker spring. I've also thought to mention that a so-called 'light trigger' in a Glock is going to do absolutely NOTHING for you: You won't be any faster; you won't be anymore accurate; and the mechanical reliability of your Glock will go down.

Me and my Glocks? I went in exactly the opposite direction. I use Wolff Gunsprings 'Xtra power' striker and trigger springs. My striker safety springs are also factory standard. With dressed and well polished internals my Glock triggers consistently break CLEAN at between 4.9 and 5.2 lb at the middle of the trigger face. My trigger resets are also very clean and short.

All this nonsense about the supposed usefulness of lightweight triggers in Glock pistols is just that: Silly-ass advertising fodder for amateur Glock gunmen to feed upon. And I have always been a very difficult gunman for other pistoleros to outshoot. Three times in my life I have taken standing ovations from audiences full of police officers and military personnel as I walked off the firing line. (And that is the truth, no IGF bullhooey.)

I shot the attached target with two Pentagon military marksmanship manual writers standing behind me trying to figure out how I could fire a Glock pistol so quickly and still hit the target at the same time! I was using the same trigger setup that I have just outlined above. The target distance was just beyond 20 yards.

What? You get those too!

(And, yes, getting old ain't for the faint of heart; it actually takes a lot of courage to keep on hanging in there. I always thought that I might get lucky, and die in a gunfight; but, I am older, and I know better now. It's not going to be a terrorist, or some armed street thug who finally gets to me; it's much more likely going to be 'Big Pharma' and the fucking doctors who'll finally get to take me out!) ;)

Yes I agree with you that there are more important things in shooting a gun than trigger weight. I can shoot my Glock as good as an SVI infinity for 10 times the price.

I just wanna see what is possible with a glock and tinker around with it on the range. The only thing I miss in the glock is the 700Gram trigger on a SVI infinity.

I'm fully aware that all those overpriced aftermarket trigger sales are a scam. That's why I just wanna know how far one can go with just a spring replacement that'll just cost a few cents.

The advantage of a light trigger in a competition gun is that you can pull the trigger faster without disturbing the gun... Makes for faster and more accurate follow-up shots.

That advantage can have negative consequences in police or military situations.

Or a real life self-defense situation !
