I had a friend recommend this company to me so I thought I would give them a try.

I ordered 2x 1911 mag pouches and 2x GLOCK mag pouches on Thursday of last week. The single pouches were $11.95 each. Shipping was very cheap. My total was $54.80.

The pouches arrived yesterday in a small padded envelope. I was surprised how small the envelope was until I opened it and pulled the pouches out. They are very compact. One could put a good many of these on your belt for a match or in class and not take up much room at all .... and for this price you could actually afford to buy a bunch of them.

I inserted mags in each pouch then gave it a tug to check the retention. I was really pleased with how well they held. I could hold the pouch upside down and shake it without fear the loaded mag would come out.

I only tested on on a belt to see how well it held. I did a few quick, firm grabs of the mag to pull it out of the pouch and it (the pouch) stayed put. I was slightly concerned they might wobble too much or not hold well due to the fact they are all 1.75" by default and I wear a 1.5" belt. No worries there. I think they are fine.

I read a review on another site after placing my order. The reviewer felt they rode a bit lower on the belt than he liked. I see his complaint as they do ride lower than most of the pouches I've tried. Fact is ... I like it riding lower. The mags didn't jab me in the ribs like with other pouches.

This is a very simple design that seems to work. I will continue to use my Dale Fricke horizontal pouches for EDC but these will definitely be used in classes and matches (where legal) as supplements or in place of the doubles I currently use.

Check them out. Tell Brian (the owner) I sent you.

I have to head over near GLOCK's headquarters tomorrow for a customer experience resolution. Basically, I get to clean up after someone else failed to do their job properly. Wish I could go. Enjoy lunch for me!

I like the way these ride better than the Comp-Tac and the fact the design is so simple and compact. The Comp-Tac might be more "solid" construction. The Kytex are completely one piece. I'll put them in the truck if I remember so you can see them when we get together for me to get the PSS holster. I like these a lot. They are also less than the half the price of the Comp-Tac and take up much less room on the belt.

Again, I want to run these in a class in a couple of weeks and at the next IDPA match to see if they will stay on the belt well while being tugged on good. If so, they are a definite winner in my book.

I ordered one of those this morning. Told Brian that Vol sent me, but it didn't save me any money! Lol. But he did guarantee he would make and ship it within 24hours. Guess you can't beat that.

I was the one who told Vol about these pouches. I bought several a month ago but I haven't had much time to put them into the rotation except for a few short range sessions. They are very similar to the ready tactical pouches and are more of a competition type pouch. I don't think they are the best product for carry but they are perfect range/classes/competition. They take up very little space on the belt which works well for the real estate on my waist. The price can't be beat.

Thanks for the post and PM, Vol.
Got the 9/40 Mag Pouch/Light carrier yesterday that I ordered Tuesday.
Great workmanship. The retention on the mag pouch is not as great as your's, however.
Turned it upside down and shook it a couple of times and a loaded 26 mag fell out.
The light stayed in place. I think I can live with it if I don't have to stand on my head! Can maybe do some adjustments myself.
Brian at Kytex Gear is great to deal with and lived up to his promise to make it and ship it
within 24 hours.

Having not had a chance to out my hands on these from a visit to Vol's house yet, is it a case where the 19 mags go further into the holder than a 26 mag would, or do they both go in the same distance and the 19 mags just stick out further?

I was asking because if he has mag holders for say a 19, and the 26 mags don't go all the way to the bottom of the mag holder, the retention might not be as tight towards the top as it is at the bottom.

Kytex Mag/Light Pouch

The depth of the mag carrier was not the problem. Here are a couple of photos;

In the first photo you can see the depth is just fine.
In the second photo, the rear (or right side) of the mag pouch is not at a
90 degree angle. When I got it it was at a 90 degree angle and not enough
tension to hold the mag in. I heated the inside of that corner slightly with a
butane grill lighter and bent that side in about 3/16". It put a little more tension
on the mag and it works fine now. The light carrier was fine.

On his website it's listed as a 9/40 mag pouch/light carrier. He did not make
this until I ordered it, so I would guess he could make anything you want as
far as, depth, beltwidth, etc.

Nice product!

Quick update on this gear. I was in a pistol class yesterday and used two of these pouches. Granted, I wasn't using them as my primaries. I was doing some T&E for another holster maker so I was wearing two of his singles in class. More on that in another thread on another day.

I used these two pouches as back-ups simply so I could carry more mags to the line without loading down my pockets. I wore one at around 8 o'clock and another at 7. My primaries were worn at 9 o'clock and 10. I didn't load my gun from the Kytex pouches. As I would empty my forward, primary pouches I would take a mag from the Kytex pouch to replace it.

The pouches were very stable on the belt. In fact, it took two hands to clip them over my Wilderness Instructors belt and two hands to remove them. I highly recommend these.

The guy on the line next to me was wearing 4 of these as his primaries. They took up no more room than my 2 pouches I was using as primaries. He was equally pleased.

Patience grasshopper. I am waiting until I can get some pics and for the second shipment to arrive before I start posting too much about it. You've seen most of the advanced copy anyway. I will forward you another e-mail I sent the maker this morning ... a AAR of sorts.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread to clarify some of the issues. I emailed Brian asking if the G17, G19, and G26 mag holders were different lengths. He said that they were the same length but were molded to fit each mags taper. If you look at the mags you'll see that the 26 has less taper than the 17 & the 19 being somewhere inbetween. A 26 mag won't reach the bottom of a 19 or 17 holder because of that. He recommended a 26 holder if you want one to accomodate all three.
