Has anyone here used or own an IPad? My wife wants one and I can't decide if I want to spend that kind of money on it. She started off wanting a book reader like the Nook, but then saw the IPad and has said she wants it now instead, but doesn't want me to spend the money. (Which means she wants it. LOL)

Thoughts from anyone?

Best money I ever spend. Thin, lightweight, fast processor, HD streaming video capability, thousands of apps, built-in gps (3G models). If it had a usb port, I would not need a laptop for work, only the iPad.

i have an iphone, and a macbookpro, but i have to say the i-pad is largely lacking many features (and has lesser hardware, like a slower processor) that the far more functional netbooks (and especially small laptops) have.

however, it's an apple, and it's a cool toy, so people lined up around the block at it's launch lol

if she's really set on one, just look for a deal, it's not worth it's full price

check craigs list. that's where i got my macbook pro NIB maxed out on features for less than half the price of the el stripo model at the apple store

iPads are nice, but they are not the best for book reading... If your wife wants to read books, she might be happier with the new Kindle...

Several of my friends have the older version of the Kindle and love them... I've heard that the new Kindle is even better...

I have an iPad and I love it! It's a unique product, not a phone, not a laptop, but one of the best entertainment devises I've used.
I have a ton of Apple stuff and am truly a fan.... What does she want to use it for? They are great for movies and books, Facebook and e-mail. Remember, if Moms not happy... Nobodys happy!

Suck it up and buy the thing. She puts up with you so she probably deserves it. Two of my neighbors have them so I have played them a very small bit. It's basically a giant iPod Touch from what I can tell. I too am a Mac person so I say get it. You'll end up using it as much as she does if she doesn't hide it from you. They really are cool. Are they worth the money? I would suspect L would argue that you buying anything over 1 gun isn't "worth it". Agree? lol.

Get it. You'll get major points. I'm still laughing a bit after the banter between the two of you the other night in my kitchen. TMI TMI TMI. lol.

If you could dual boot between OSX and the iPad OS, I would be more interested in it. Love my MacBook Pro and iPhone. You COULD kick in another $500 and get her a new MacBook Air. Thin and sexy!

I don't have one, but they look cool. We use Mac computers, and the wife has and iPod that was some of the best money that I ever spent on technology for her. She hardly ever broke out her laptop, but she uses her iPod to check email and do facebook, etc, and then she does her pictures and such on the desktop computer.

Get it. I don't have one....yet. I've played with them. Having a Mac Mini, Macbook, and iPhone, I still think they are cool and I'd use it.

I got a wifi one and use it all the time.. I do wish I had spent the extra $ though and bought a 3g one.. att and verizon both have them now..

Jeeesshh, OK, so I'll get it. She won't be getting much more LOL. To top it off, I had asked her to get me the new Call of Duty BlackOps game. I'm not a big gamer but I like that series and enjoy playing it. It came in the mail today but she won't let me play it. Says I have to wait until Christmas.

Personally, I would not spend that kind of money on the iPad. My wife has one and enjoys it but she says that even after using it it's not worth the price they are asking for it (she got hers for free). If you can afford it and your wife REALLY wants it then I say go ahead (brownie points are great). But my suggestion is buy her one of the new Nook Colors and an iPod touch. Those two things combined are cheaper than an iPad.

Dont look at it as $$$$ you could have spent on a glock and ammo,BUTTT look at it as an opportunity or even an investment to get to buy something YOU want later on down the line.

That SOMETHING being obscenely expensive may it be a gun,an ipad,or even a lamborghini.
