Simmons 3-9x40 scope, part # 800878

The build cannibalizes a receiver off an old 10/22 rifle the dealer had in stock. Fortunately, they had one with a matte black finish that looks great with the matte black Tactical Solutions parts. I have the original 10/22 barrel and wood stock in my garage closet. At some point I will attempt to sell them for whatever I can get to recoup some of my expense.

Sorry, the pic kind of sucks but I still haven't figured out how to take quality pics of long guns.

I guess I should admit I didn't actually build it myself. One of the guys at my local shop built it for me. They built one to sell. I went back to purchase it and it had sold already ... a couple of hours before I got there. I asked him to build me another one and we did pretty much the same as he had done before with a minor change here and there. He built two. While I was in picking up mine ( a couple of hours after he completed them ) the other one sold. People are pretty happy with this setup it seems.

I think they had $599 on the sticker. I can't recall exactly ( I didn't pay full sticker ) but it wasn't too far off of that. I added the QD scope rings and scope myself after the fact. That cost me another $75 total.
When you sell me this at a discounted rate, I'll have to spray paint my CAN to match it! :)
I finally had the opportunity to sight this in a couple of weekends ago. I was on the 50yd pistol range at my local club so that's all I could do for now. I prob won't bother stretching out the zero to 100yd but will shot it some at that distance just to see what kind of adjustments I will need to make to my POA if I decide to shoot it from that distance.

I zero'd it with the suppressor attached and then tested it with several different brands of ammo to make sure all still held a decent enough group. It was all acceptable enough for my purposes ... shooting paper and the occasional pumplin. lol.

I love this little gun. I forgot my Harris telespopic bi-pod when I took it out so had to use the blocks that were already on the bench. I put the bi-pod on when I got home. I will prob add a sling at some point ... just because. I also need to pick up some add'l mags.

I can see that we have similar interests. I put this thing together years ago and I can't even remember all the parts.... Powers, Volq-blah-blah. It's a lot of fun to shoot and you can keep everything in the size of a dime at 50yds all day long. The wind has it's affects at 100yds, but it's still fun to stretch it out. I once read an article that said the IDF uses a similar set up for riot situations. The precision of a shoulder or thigh shot was less harmful than rubber bullets. In any case, it was an inexpensive project that is cheap to shoot and loads of fun. (Cheap = a friend of mine that became a convicted felon gave me the base rifle when he could no longer possess guns.)

Yeah, but my therapist says I'm making progress on the over-compensation issues.

Simmons fixed 26 power.
I need to speak to your therapists. (Vol knows lol )

If you could see the size of TheLaw's new truck you would understand. It's bigger than my house.
That's one of the longest scopes I've ever seen...
Both are certainly nice set-ups, but holy crap Ted, that scope looks longer than my whole 597VTR. You should be able to determine whether or not the varmint has an STD with that bad boy.
While I certainly appreciate all the nice comments about my hhhuuuugggge scope, I have to admit a lot of it is sunshade. Please.... don't tell the girls.
