My G19 slide is 'sticking' a bit at the beginning of the slide opening process. When I start to push the slide rearward, there is resistance during the first 3/8" or so of movement. After that short initial drag, the slide moves freely to fully open.

This may not be a problem, but it doesn't feel quite right. Maybe this 'condition' has existed from the beginning and I just didn't notice until I started changing a few things this weekend. The gun hasn't been fired more than a few hundred rounds, so the slide and receiver are like new. Your thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like it could be the KKM barrel. They're intentionally made to fit much tighter - improves accuracy. Sometimes they need to be fitted (material removed from the hood) if they are too tight.

If you're concerned about too tight you should have a gunsmith look at it to determine if it need fitted.

I put a complete OEM slide on the receiver, and it felt just the same...a little drag in the first 1/4" or so of slide movement. That would seem to rule out the KKM barrel.

I probably will have it checked by a gunsmith. The Glock guy will be at our gun show this month.

I saw a Glock operation video today using a Glock G17 cutaway, and it now seems to me the KKM barrel IS the reason my G19 is tight when the slide starts to open.

If accuracy is enhanced with the tight fit, maybe its an advantage! I'll still let a gunsmith look at it before I shoot it again to be sure it isn't too tight.

I have had a similar issue with a Gen4 G19, but I can't say it came from the factory with the problem.

Fiddling around with parts a lot, at one point I changed the Connector on this pistol to get it back to "stock" condition, after which it developed a definite hard "stick" just as I began to pull the slide back. It fired and functioned normally, but it bothered me that it was so hard to cycle by hand.

As usual, I started to swap parts one by one in the hope that I would stumble across the problem, and I did: it was the Connector. I had installed a standard Connector at some point. When I replaced it with the "." ("dot") Connector, the problem was solved.

My guess is that the angle on the leg of the standard Connector I installed at some point was off, maybe bent out too far.

I'm sure that there are other causes to this problem, I just wanted to point out one that I came across.

A dot connector arrived in the mail yesterday. I decided to replace the Ghost connector I installed recently with the dot version. I installed the Ghost to replace a + connector because the trigger pull was too heavy.

I don't understand why the Ghost connector would cause the slide to be a little snug to open, but I don't yet grasp the relationship of all parts 'under the the hood'. The Ghost is taller than a stock connector.

I'll let you know if the dot connector has any effect on slide operation.

I'm happy to say that my G19 slide now opens smooth as glass from front to back.

Today I replaced the Ghost connector with a dot ('.') connector and eliminated the drag I was getting during the first 3/8" of opening the slide. MtStream's post #8 is the only technical explanation of this 'fix' I can offer.
