I realize that this is a pretty old thread, but in re-reading it I didn't see any point where you did settle on a solution.
Have you contacted Glock on the phone to tell them about this? I was having some similar sticking problems with a Gen4 G17, but I thought it was just my own clumsiness until I finally got my hands on the new Glock part.
I fired the pistol just enough with 115 grain 9mm ammo to know that it didn't like that ammo (jams, FTF). I jumped to the aftermarket solution and got a guide rod and spring that worked.
Then I went to Armorer's School. Then, finally, I called Glock, and they very quickly determined that I could use the new "0 2 1" Recoil Spring Assembly (that's for the G17 remember). The new "0 2 1" RSA solved my functioning problems,
and it has an improved design where the RSA fits into the front of the slide. It's hard to explain, but this picture should help:
On the left is the original RSA that came with the pistol. Note that the spring comes right up to touch the polymer "nose" piece. The end of the spring was sticking in my pistol, causing the same problem you described. Another term for that problem is PITA. Pain In The A**.
In the middle is a Jager steel guide rod with an ISMI spring, which solved the problem at a cost of about, oh, $42.95. As you can see, Jager made a very pronounced cap for the spring that fits nicely into the slide. Pretty cool.
At the right is the new "0 2 1" RSA from Glock, provided for free, that now has a metal cup that covers the spring, separating it from the polymer nose. The cup and the nose now fit through the opening in the slide perfectly, and that problem of the spring sticking in the slide went away.
Maybe, just maybe, Glock has done the same thing for your G22.
