Thought I would add some photos to the thread. Since posting earlier today the bid has jumped to over $7,000. The early cutaways were used heavily by Glock sales trying to convince LE departments to switch to the new pistol. It's expected to see lots of scratches on these pistols as that was done intentionally by the reps. This one looks like it also has holster wear with seems odd to me - most likely from whatever it was stored in by the rep.

Auction finished up at over $8,000! From what I’m reading on other forums, if JQ100 hadn’t recently sold, that buyer would have made this a really nasty fight!

Congratulations to “the elusive sasquatch” for winning a great piece!

Glock 17 Gen 1 Factory CA Cutaway, Extremely Rare low SN# Cut Away Gen1

In this auction we have a super rare piece of Glock history. This is Glock factory Cutaway Gen 1 model 17 SN# JQ 024 US. This piece comes as pictured with OEM box, with remaining label on the box as pictured, and the one cutaway magazine. Thanks Glock Talk for the following information about this series of pieces that are significant items of modern firearms history.

There were two runs of Gen 1 17 Cutaways.

Run #1: JQ018-JQ027 imported 1/28/88. They went to Glock sales guys.

One of the premier and most knowledgeable Glock collectors in the country was recently quoted on GLOCK TALK as saying, " I have never seen one of these guns for sale or otherwise.
I have seen one or two early CAs in Europe w/German labels, original box, etc. but I've not been able to get one over here.
All other things being equal (i.e., no special provenance, etc) I think that one of the JQ018 - JQ027 guns would definitely bring more. Just my opinion. I think that a G1 CA is a pillar of a serious early Glock collection. CAs in general are definitely niche. However, while there a many Glocks of later generations, there are few different Gen 1s. The CAs are one of them. Thus, I think that a serious Glock collector will eventually want one to round out their G1 collection."

Run #2: JQ100 - JQ179 imported 5/4/89.

There were 90 made.

Re the AT guns:
Early Glock sales guy Peter Tarley made two (he thinks) himself to demo. This guns don't show as much as the factory ones. Gaston liked the idea. They led to the first Gen 1s. Glock has one of the ATs."

Some great info:

Glock Factory Cutaway Model

AT002US - Gen 1 17. At Cody on loan from Glock. 1st CA. Manually cut by Mr. Glock and Mr. Hirschheiter.
JQ100 - Gen 1 17. Glockhoarder collection. Taken around by the First VP of Glock, Mr. Karl Walter to various PDs to demo Glock pistols to LE. Some light scratches on the slide were made in the first armorers classes by Mr. Walter using a punch to demonstrate how tough that the tenifer finish was.
