So living in Cali means no regular mags, only lowcap mags. I bought 6 glock 17 mags before the ban. My intention was to buy a 17 down the road. 10 years later a friend offered me a sweat deal on a model 22.

My question is... if i change out the follower to a 40 s&w follower, will they work in my glock 22?

The lips are what is going to kill it for ya. If I were you I would just try to find someone with some pre-ban G22 mags and try to trade. I have serious doubts that you would be able to get those to function properly. Not that I am saying you couldn't I am sure someone out there has done it but it would be hard to say the least. Not too mention how many of those mags will get ruined in the process. I am sure they are worth money out there as they are probably kinda rare by now.

In addition to the comments about the feedlips above, I'd look at the law very carefully to make sure that modifying exiting mags isn't a problem.
