G23SNT+ and myself went to Caliber's indoor range here in Albuquerque last week. He had told me they have LE and Military discounts on some of their guns, so I went out hunting me a Glock 20. They didn't have any in stock, but said they could get one for me at 569.00, then the guy said he could actually get a Blue Tag Glock 20 for 539.00. I asked what Blue Tag meant and he said they are guns available at discounts to LE and Military. In 34 years I've never seen or heard of this. I was just curious if anybody out there was familiar with "Blue Tag" guns. What makes a gun "Blue Tag"? Why not just sell anything at a discount, if the manufacturers allow it. Maybe I'm just over thinking here, and I'll surely be getting the Glock 20 for 539.00 in the near future, I just was hoping on some better clarification in the matter.

The blue tag is something that Glock themselves do not the store. It is offered to numerous professions. LE, military, some EMS and what not. I will try to find who all is eligible and post it up in a minute.

Glock Sports Shooting Foundation members can get the blue labels too with their discount.
I have actually had trouble getting my local shop to recognise the GSSF discount. So much in fact that I just gave up on it. Since all I have to do is take out my ID it wasn't worth the trouble anymore.

Thanks sfguard, that cleared it up for me. I also noticed, at least what I remember, they had several other brands as Blue Labels as well. Maybe more companies are following Glock in this aspect, as well as trying to be Glocks, HAHA. They had 9mm and .40 cal Glocks for 449.00. That's cheaper than I paid for my 23 over 7 years ago. I may ask about the Blue Label for GSSF members when I purchase my 20, maybe get more discounts for non LE and Military folks.

Yeah there are others that do it. I know Sig does but I am not sure on who else.

i agree. not only that, but GSSF just changed the discounts so you no onger get the LE price. now, after you pay the $35 membership fee, you're saving like $20 off a glock. hardly worth it....

I wasn't aware of that change. I agree it isn't worth it just for the discount. I like the matches though so for someone like me it is.

One other difference with the blue labels is that they came standard with three mags, except the subcoms, whereas the red labels only came with two mags.

They are all suppose to start shipping with three mags but with a price increase to pay for the third mag (except subcoms).

Blue tag is the way to go if possible.. I just picked up a G27 w/ night sights for $497 OTD... I paid like $540 OTD for a standard 23.

I will definitely stick w/ Blue label.

two of my three Glocks were blue label. One was on my GSSF program, where I got a Gen 4 G19 for $425.00 with three mags. I've seen Gen 4 selling for $550.00. I too have issues with the GSSF delaers as there are three in my general area, but each are at least an hour away, each way. 2 + hour drives in my big truck eats up quite a bit of gas so I have to take that into consideration.

I have a local Gun Shop that I buy quite a few weapons from every year. I'd say I average 10 - 15 so they like it when I come in. I've been talking to the owner about the GSSF program and he was going to look into it. The last Glock I purchased from him he gave me at LE pricing and a few weeks later I asked for a quote and was given LE pricing again. If he keeps that up, he'll continue getting all my business.

if the shop wasn't gssf, do you fall in the list of who can get the blue label or are you le or how did he sell to you?

I do not fall into the category. I guess he likes my business and I bring him quite a bit. :)

The key here is the GSSF angle as Glock takes a very dim view misuse of the blue label pricing.
The shop owner is aware on my previous profession and has often told me that he gives me the discount because of that. In some instance, he hasn't but most of the time, I can't find a better deal than he will give me.

Thanks for the info sfguard. I went to two different Glock dealers today looking for a 26. Prices were $579 and 589.
That "Blue Tag" price can save me some bucks.
