I have 2 Lone Wolf barrels....one for the G19 and one for the G20....Has anyone tried the KKM or Storm Lake barrels and how do you like them?

I am not much help as I've never owned one. However, I did a bunch of research last year when I was looking at doing a conversion barrel. I ended up narrowing it down to Lone Wolf and Storm Lake. In the end I decided to go with Storm Lake. Well, not the END END. In the END END I ended up getting a GLOCK OWM barrel for a G32 and used it in a G23 ... then sold them both.

I just recall I read more good and less negative things about the Storm Lake barrels. I think the final straw was an article I read in a magazine where the author put a new SL barrel in an old shot out G19 with well over 100k rds through it. The SL barrel increased his accuracy dramatically and it was a perfect drop in part.
I have several LW barrels. I've never had an issue or complaint. I'm curious to the issue you have with the LW.
Ive got my eye on a 4 port Storm barrel for the G34... if I get it, Ill report back as to how it does for me.
gunnut,

NO....love the LW barrels....I am just curious if the other brands seem any better or not compared to the LW.
Ah, I assumed you had an issue. I compared the prices initially; the LW's were a lot less expensive and as I haven't any any issues, never saw the need to spend more for the same thing.

If the others are better, I'd like to know why as well. I know KKM, Barsto, & SL may make specific barrels that LW doesn't offer, which would make them more attractive in that aspect.

What else do you have to change when you put in a ported barrel like that?

Doesn't that change the recoil dynamics of the gun?
You shouldn't have to do anything else to the gun other than drop it in. There is an off chance if you are running really light springs and/or really light loads you could run into reliability issues. I do neither.
I am guessing the reason for an after market barrel, is that they are a little more accurate???

I think people get after market barrels for the following reasons ... there are prob more I can't think of right now.
ported barrel
threaded barrel
caliber conversion
increased accuracy (thought prob marginal at best for the average shooter)
I own a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel for my Glock 27. It works perfectly. I also own a Storm Lake 357sig conversion barrel for my 27 & it is 100% reliable also. I know that the 357sig stock barrel can be used in the 27 & you don't really need a barrel marked as a conversion barrel but that is what was available at the time from Storm Lake. The other 357sig barrel they sell for the G33 which isn't marked as a conversion barrel looks exactly like the one I got. Go figure...Oh, & the Storm Lake barrel & the Lone Wolf barrel look similiar in quality & function.
What do you all think would be the best option for me as far as finding a G23C .40cal barrel to convert my G32? Are there any good aftermarket barrels I should look at, or should I just buy a factory G23C barrel so that I can be sure the porting in the barrel and slide line up?
I'm highly considering getting the KKM Drop-In for my G23. I'd like to know if it's worth the $165 and what all I'm going to get out of this barrel, if anything more than my stock Glock barrel.
can an after market barrel affect recoil or just the spring
can an after market barrel affect recoil or just the spring
an aftermarket barrel can reduce recoil slightly if it's ported, or simply longer than stock. the difference is usually negligible though, as 9mm/40/45 generally don't creat enough pressure to make a huge difference in muzzle flip when you use a compensated barrel.

you generally do not have to change any springs with a barrel swap, unless you're attaching a sound suppressor to a threaded barrel.
thanks Don, just wondering
I think most people get after market barrels for their Glocks so they can shoot cast bullets. From all the reserch that I have done I am thinking the KKM barrels are the best.
I just noticed that Lone Wolf sells "Federal Arms" barrels for Glocks. Any experience or recommendations on these would be appreciated.
Anybody tried Bar-sto barrels?

I was interested in finding out what they are like. I wanted a barrel that would be OK to use reloads in.

barsto glock barrels have no more chamber support than glock barrels:

(40cal barrels, bar-sto is on the left)

but they do have tighter chamber dimensions than glock. the shell on the left is from the bar-sto.
