Ive been entertaining the idea of getting a 357 sig barrel for my G23. I think it would give my 23 a lil more versatility. Anybody tried this yet. Pros cons?

I know a couple of people with .357 Sigs but they don't shoot it much because they say it is unpleasant (their words). They equate it to a 125 gr .357 mag for recoil impulse. I have never seen once fired .357 Sig brass for sale and factory stuff is $10-15 a box higher than 40S&W. Being on a fixed income I think money first and where can I best use it and I see no need since I already have a S&W 686 with several hundred .357 mag cases and a bunch of 110-158gr bullets.
Yea Ive noticed that the price of ammo is some what higher. Tho I dont intend to shoot 357 sig alot at the range. I will normally shoot my 9mm guns when I go to the range. I found a slightly used kkm barrel for $130 shipped so i thot what the heck Ill give it a try. Since i can use my G23 frame and mags I wont have alot of money invested.
Found a used stainless KKM 357 sig barrel for my G23. It came in today, but I havnt had a chance to shoot it yet. Cant wait to try it out.
Sooo... did you try it yet?

No I havnt had a chance to shoot it yet. I work weekends alot so I dont get to play much on the weekends. Ill probably have a chance to shoot it monday, if not itll be thursday before ill have time. Im a workaholic so my play time is really limited sometimes. Ill keep you informed tho.
Shot my G23 with my 357 sig conv barrel today..... and...... I love it. It has some kick. But it doesnt have the muzzle flip that the 40 s&w has. Will be my EDC for a while.
I have Storm Lake ss barrel for my G23. Matter of fact, just shot it this weekend. I don't find it any less or more difficult than the 40. I can't tell the difference in recoil at all.

Now I'm curious... all you had to change out was the barrel? You used the same spring, magazines? It was that simple??

Ive noticed that the 357 sig kicks more to the center of my hands than the .40 s&w does.

That is correct. All you have to do is drop the barrel in. The .40 mags can be used for .357 sig. Most other gun manufacturers mark ther .40 mags as .40/.357sig and vis versa.
It's just that simple! The 357 sig is just a necked down 40, so it all fits, the barrel uses the same recoil spring as 40. Like Wrigleys, "2 guns in 1"!

I have decided to sell my Storm Lake .357 sig barrel for G23. I don't use it much, and currently mostly use my G30s when shoot. Check it out in classified, aftermarket glock parts.
Thanks guys... I'll have to keep that information stored away for in the future. Ya''ll are better than google!!!
