Well Im sick and tired of waiting any longer. Ive been hunting a 22 or 23 for the last 2 or 3 months. I've narrowed it down to either a brand new Gen 4 23 for 450+20(lock)+6%+10(paperwork), coming out to about 510. Or a used Gen 3 22 w/ nite sites, I believe a Police trade-in good condition 369.95+6%+10= about 401, a used gen 2 23 for 319.95+6%+10= about 350.

I like the new Gen 4's but am scared of the first lines of brand new products sometimes. Plus if I buy that one, that particular shop is behind on paper work so instead of the normal 7 days, its 14.

The 2 used are a decent amount cheaper, and Im 99% sure that the gen 3 22's are before the required time for a internal gunlock so that takes away the 20 for that.

I need help for deciding between a 22 or a 23. I like the smaller size, but a 22 fits in my hand better, I wear an XL glove. I have shot both, only a little but the few shots with the 23 I did like more, however Im not sure what kind of ammo he was using. The 23 seemed to recoil better then the 22, it oddly felt easier and more controlable. Maybe since it was my 2nd time shooting a .40s&w. It was a month in between so the 22 wasnt fresh in my mind, thats why I find it odd that the 23 hit easier.

Give me some pro's con's of both from you all that have either or both( even if its different caliber but same frame size)

Thanks for help

What do you plan to use the pistol for? Home defense... Carry... Range Shooting? That will help determine which is better for you...

I have a 17 for home defense and a 19 for a carry gun... I use them for other things, but those are their primary missions... I like the feel of the 17 (same size as a 22) the best... I don't hate the 19 (same size as the 23) but the 17 fits my hands the best.

Mainly home defense, SHTF, range shooting. Very rare will it ever be carried, but could be a possibility one day.

I think I have decided I dont want a gen 2. I like the CRI, and I like the rail. The grooves look better and fit me fine.

Quite honestly, a gen 3 23 would be ideal. I just cant find one, especially in a good price range. I wont pay over 400 said and done for a used gen 3. As you can see the 22 gen 3 would be about that. For 100 more I can have a brand new 23 gen 4.

Its an internal lock, goes down the barrel or something, has to be the caliber of the firearm. My father bought his p226 and told the guy dont put it in, yet he still had to buy it...I finely talked the guy into letting me use the same lock when I picked up my fnp. I just showed it to him...its damn useless.. just a byproduct of the commi state of md.

from what you have said, I like this one

Well....I just pmed the guy with the gen 3 22, hes sold out of the 22's. I guess that kind of narrows my choice down lol. I mean I could still decided between the gen 4's 22 and 23. I think Id prefer the 23 for same price.

brand new is going to be more then or same price as a gen 4. I say that because the place I can get the gen 4 for 450+ all that other b/s is the best place for buying a glock. Since Im a Fireman I get a discount, Police get a little more, Military gets even more. (Wish I was still in) Anyway since the gen 4's have come out they dont keep the gen 3's in and they are the exact same price. Also, they informed me Glock is going to drop the prices in November...

If I went to any other shop or store(bass pro, etc) they only have gen 3's and are typical 580+

I recently paid 499$ for Gen3 23 brand new then i had them add tijicon nights sights came out to 674$ out the door i fell it was well worth it the reason i didn't get a 22 is I'm am needing a smaller CCW gun if for home defense and range gun i would have went with the 22 as i am use to a full size gun.

many states require pistols to come with this lock. it goes through the barrel and out the ejection port.

however, i've never seen, or even heard of, a gunshop that charges extra for it. the gunshops don't pay extra for it, it's included from the manufacturers.

i would shop somewhere else.

Wow really??! I feel super shafted now. I mean 450 plus 20 for lock still adds up to an ok price but Im cheap, just like the shop owners are. I get cheap right back at them. I had an offer for 260 for my FNP9 USG and 250 for a P226. Jeez thats why I like dealing with people as opposed to shops. They are a shaft job and a half.

You are talking about an interal lock right? My FNP came with a lock, looks like a padlock on a cable, a cable lock, but they say an internal lock is needed. Looks like a bullet and has a rod that goes down the bore. Just want to make sure.

if i had to pick gen 4 or gen 3 at the same price im going to pick gen 3 everytime. its proven reliability. the gen 4 isnt yet. so what if its the same price what do you get in a gen 4 you dont in a gen 3?

Dual recoil spring, supposed to last longer and cut down on recoil for fast follow up shots. Ability to customized grip to my hand with different backstraps, bigger and ambi mag release, and since Im a lefty that could help in future, greater grip from rtf.

All my Glocks come with one of these...
